Shanghai Lungo Review
A new capsule in the World Explorations line, inspired by the coffee culture of Shanghai. Brown foam. Very intense aroma, sweet like biscuits, and strongly roasty. Barely noticeable in the aroma are floral hints like of roses and lavender. Acidic and dry at first, with a medium body. Initially, when the coffee is still quite hot, the acidity and dryness dominate. Roasty notes, not bitterness though, come to the fore at lower temperatures, while maintaining a vivacious acidity. Not much intense as a whole, with a salty aftertaste. Traces of sweetness can be discerned here and there but overall it is decidedly a coffee that is more floral, dry, and…

Tokyo Vivalto Lungo Review
The new 2021 version, inspired by Tokyo and Japan coffee culture, of the classic Vivalto Lungo capsule. Very light brown crema, nearly white. Thick and decidedly bubbly. A coffee with a clear aroma of cereals and flowers, with jasmine being the prevalent one. Medium-low intensity, with a thin body. A delicate floral-based blend, with a basic bitterness and acidity at high temperatures. A pleasing roastiness element comes up as the coffee cools down. Barely bitter overall, with a slightly more pronounced acidity, sign of a light-medium roasting and Arabica beans. Cereals, perhaps some biscuits, flavors on one side pairs well with the mellow floral flavors on the other side. A…

Buenos Aires Lungo Review
The new capsule in the World Explorations line, inspired by the coffee culture of Buenos Aires. Light brown crema. Sweet, clearly cereals-like, aroma. The smell has a good intensity too. A hint of spices, cardamom and nutmeg primarily, can be found within the aroma. Quite a dry coffee at the first sip, with a bitter aftertaste. Thin body, low intensity. A mellow coffee for sure. Dark cocoa flavors are the main source of bitterness, which can then clearly be considered a pleasant type of bitterness. Acidity comes out only at low temperatures. A soft, pleasing, roasty component becomes more noticeable as the coffee cools down. The lack of body makes…

Vienna Linizio Lungo Review
The new 2021 blend, inspired by Vienna and its coffee culture, substituting the classic Linizio Lungo. Brown foam. Sweet and roasty aroma, with distinct cocoa notes. Dairy-like acidity can be smelled as well, creating an interesting aromatic mix. A caramel-like sweetness united with milky notes is immediately recognizable at hot temperatures. Bitterness is present in the aftertaste, nearly exclusively. Medium body, probably a medium roast too. Cocoa and malted notes start to prevail at lower temperatures, blending with milk ones. When not very hot it becomes quite a well balanced coffee, with similar amounts of sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. The latter two may be considered slightly prevailing over the sweetness.…

Cape Town Envivo Lungo Review
The new 2021 blend for the classic Envivo Lungo that looks at Cape Town as inspiration for its renewed taste profile. Dark brown foam. Not a coffee with an intense aroma. Nuts, walnuts primarily, are the main characteristic of the smell, along with a distinct woodiness. Definitely a dark roasted coffee. More intense at the taste, full of caramel, licorice but devoid of any sweetness. Dry, with a full body. At lower temperatures most of the characteristics of a dark roast and Robusta beans show: malt, wood, and bitterness prevail, little acidity, a strong, malty, aftertaste. A typical woody dryness becomes the major flavor as the coffee cools down. Malt,…

Stockholm Fortissio Lungo Review
The new version of the classic Fortissio Lungo, inspired by the coffee culture of Stockholm. Another capsule part of the new World Explorations range. Brown foam. a moderate aroma of hazelnuts, malted cereals, delicate. The aspect of the coffee is of a dark roasted one but the smell is more subdued. Quite more dark roasted at the taste, with cocoa, malted cereals and nutty flavors reigning over any others. Moderately bitter when hot. A low-key acidity appears among the bitterness, slightly more noticeable at lower temperatures yet remaining in the background. Medium/heavy body, leaning towards the intense end of the Nespresso’s line. Roasty and moderately dry, at low temperatures the…

Special Reserve Galapagos Review
A 2021 limited edition made of coffee exclusively from the Galapagos islands. It is a return of the 2018 Galapagos Santa Cruz limited edition. Light brown foam. Cereals and milk smell, quite sweet and with a medium intensity. Same intensity as the coffee itself. Dry and pungently roasted, with a medium/full body too, making it a very classic espresso taste profile. Nespresso roasted medium/dark to make it more similar to an European espresso experience. Mostly dry at the palate, with a distinct bitterness, not overwhelmingly so, though, but a pleasant, showing herbal-like qualities, kind of bitterness. Acidity slowly becomes more pronounced as the coffee cools down, providing a balance to…
