Is Nespresso real crema?
We have been returning often on the comparison of Nespresso with real espresso. We like to explore the differences between coffee brewing systems, in a fair way. Not like in marketing or such. If you haven’t read our previous explorations on the subject yet, we wrote on how Nespresso and Espresso compare and whether Nespresso is to be considered real espresso. Both are about how Nespresso coffee made with any of the Nespresso machines compares to coffee made with an espresso machine, and whether Nespresso can rightfully be considered as a proper espresso. Both our previous articles were on the scientific/technical aspects that make a good espresso and explored how…

Nespresso vs Espresso: how do they compare?
There is a long held debate on whether Nespresso is real espresso or not, and how does the coffee produced by a Nespresso machine compare with what a proper espresso machine can produce. We have chimed in on whether Nespresso constitutes real espresso before, so we won’t repeat ourselves here. You can read our previous article on whether Nespresso is real espresso if you are more interested in that and come back here later. Old Arpeggio vs new Ispirazione Firenze Arpeggio
One of the most contested changes was the new Ispirazione Firenze Arpeggio, substituting the old favourite of many Arpeggio. We received lots of comments complaining the new capsule isn’t as good as the old one. Let’s see the main differences then. This is not a review of either capsules. You can find the full review of old Arpeggio here and of the new Ispirazione Firenze Arpeggio here. This is instead a direct comparison of the two versions, highlighting only the differences. Aroma The old Arpeggio had definitely a stronger aroma. The cocoa notes in it are immediately recognizable, making a striking difference with the new Ispirazione Firenze Arpeggio, which lacks…

Old Livanto vs new Ispirazione Genova Livanto
We continue our comparison of the old vs new capsules of the Ispirazione Italiana line with the Livanto and the Ispirazione Genova Livanto. This is not a review of either capsules. You can find the full review of old Livanto here and of the new Ispirazione Genova Livanto here. This is instead a direct comparison of the two versions, highlighting only the differences. Aroma Both capsules have a similar, cereals/milk, aroma. Livanto is decidedly sweeter though, and a tad stronger. It permeates the air more than the aroma of Ispirazione Genova. Body and Crema Medium body and a not too thick crema for both. Ispirazione Genova has a more velvety…

Old Roma vs new Ispirazione Roma
As lots of people complained about the new line replacing some all time favourites, and as we have been drinking both the new and the old version for quite a long time now, we thought that a direct comparison of the capsules is due. This is not a review of either capsules. You can find the full review of old Roma here and of the new Ispirazione Roma here. This is instead a direct comparison of the two versions, highlighting only the differences. Aroma Both capsules have a tobacco/cereals aroma, with hints of dark cocoa (slightly more pronounced in Roma). Ispirazione Roma has a more pungent aroma, with spices tones.…
