A Festive Limited Edition from 2018. Brown foam. Intense aroma, half of roastiness and half of almonds/macarons. The sweetness of the smell immediately identifies it as a macaron aroma. A medium bodied, dry cup, probably medium roasted as well. Possessing a distinct but not overwhelming acidity. At higher temperatures it is more acidic, while at medium ones the roastiness balances it and makes it less sweet. A cup of coffee that is much more bitter and roasty than the name and the aroma would have led to believe. On Nespresso coffee not being real espresso
Coffee snobs and/or aficionados aren’t usually fond of Nespresso capsules for their coffee. Various reasons, more related to taste than actual quality of the coffee involved in our opinion. But that’s not the point we want to make today. Some claim that Nespresso capsules cannot produce a real espresso but something similar, that can’t be called “espresso” though. That involves two different conception of what espresso is: a method of brewing coffee and the result of such a method. Dulsão do Brasil review
A Pure Origin capsule now discontinued. Light brown foam. Medium intense aroma, sweet, with a good roasty component. The smell of a gentle, sweet coffee. Acidity and bitterness blend already from the first sip. Quite dry, with little aftertaste. A malty pod, with cereals dominating the taste profile. Gingerbread notes can be discerned as well. A banana-like sweet acidity underlines the cereals and malt notes. Quite a low intensity capsule. Pleasurable at the taste, without any sharp edges in flavor. Linizio Lungo review
Slightly burnt smell. Brown foam. Malty/cereals feeling. Pretty dry taste. Not “filling the mouth”, a light-medium cup. No acidity. Bitter in the aftertaste but not overwhelmingly so. Some caramel hints can be discerned, balancing the bitterness. An overall well balanced blend.

Dark brown foam. Good roasted aroma, quite intense, with acidity hints. Coffee feels hot from the smell already, not just as in temperature but as a feeling of something burning without the acrid/charcoal tones. At the first sip this hotness feel is confirmed, along with a pronounced bitterness. A medium bodied capsule, clearly dark roasted. The taste profile is identical to what you would expect by reading the Nespresso’s description: woody and dark cocoa flavors are dominant, with bitterness winning against acidity and no sweetness. Light brown foam. Medium intense aroma, biscuits-like, with remarkable sweetness. More acidic with a delicate sugary undertone at the tasting compared to the aroma. Probably a light roasted coffee. Light bodied as well, with inconsistent crema. Barely bitter, the not so vivacious acidity is the main component of this pod, not so much because of its prominence but more because both bitterness and sweetness are quite low. Cereals and citrus-like flavors are the main ones, with some biscuits qualities and a pear-like acidity in the aftertaste, especially noticeable when drinking Cosi at low temperatures. Praline review
A Festive Limited Edition from 2018. Light brown foam. Distinct smell of almond. Sweeter smell than the actual taste though. In the mouth results quite dry. Low acidity. Sweet notes during the tasting, more like caramel with hazelnut than almond. It belongs to the same category of the strongly flavored blends, Ciocattino, Vanilio and Caramelito.
