Cocoa Truffle review
Origin: Brazilian Bourbon Arabica and Colombian Arabica coffee Roasting: 2 Order: Buy Cocoa Truffle at Amazon Brown foam. Definite smell of cocoa. More acidic at first taste than one’d expect, with of course the cocoa flavour being the dominant one. Acidity subsides at lower temperatures. Medium bodied. Overall much lower cocoa tones than in the old Ciocattino, making for a balanced cup. Inconsistent crema. Perhaps the medium roasting didn’t marry well with the flavouring. Whereas Ciocattino was resembling of a dark chocolate bar, this is like the cocoa powder of a truffle, indeed, or of that over a tiramisù. A different flavouring, definitely.

Sendero Mexico review
Origin: 100% Arabica from Mexico Intensity: 5/5 Buy: Order Sendero Mexico at Sendero , Order Sendero Mexico at Amazon Brown foam. Nice aroma, somewhat sweet and cocoa-like. Both aren’t that present in the tasting though. At first quite acidic, medium intensity, with a nicely contrasting bitter aftertaste. Weak crema. Blackberries and peaches are the most prominent flavours in the cup. Overall a dry and acidic cup, with a light-body quality. Capsules are fully compostable and all the coffee Sendero sells is ethically sustainable and sourced from smallholder, specialty grade, farms.

Sendero Colombia review
Origin: 100% Arabica from Colombia Intensity: 3/5 Buy: Order Sendero Colombia at Sendero , Order Sendero Colombia at Amazon Light brown foam. Fruity aroma dominates, pleasantly sweet. Traces of vague smokiness can be noticed in the smell too. A highly acidic cup, some woodiness when very hot that transforms into a delicate chocolate flavour. Inconsistent crema. At lower temperatures still some chocolate can be noticed but it’s mostly overwhelmed by the fruity acidity. Blueberries and low chocolate flavours are the most noticeable, for an acidic, medium-bodied, cup of coffee. Capsules are fully compostable and all the coffee Sendero sells is ethically sustainable and sourced from smallholder, specialty grade, farms.

Sendero Peru review
Origin: 100% Arabica from Peru Intensity: 4/5 Buy: Order Sendero Peru at Sendero , Order Sendero Peru at Amazon Light brown foam. Sweet, strong, aroma. The smell is clearly of caramel, to the point that just from it the coffee could pass for a flavoured one. Medium body, good intensity. Bitterness is present, along with high acidity. Cherries-like acidity dominates the tasting experience, with little sweetness and bitterness that subsides at lower temperatures. A dark roast for coffee beans that were originally highly acidic. Capsules are fully compostable and all the coffee Sendero sells is ethically sustainable and sourced from smallholder, specialty grade, farms.

Sendero Uganda review
Origin: 100% Arabica from Uganda Intensity: 5/5 Buy: Order Sendero Uganda at Sendero , Order Sendero Uganda at Amazon Brown foam. Distinct cocoa and cereals aroma. Heavy body, with a velvet feel in mouth. Crema is quite persisting. Definitely a dark roast, with a strong intensity (I’d hazard a 9-10 on the classic Nespresso scale). Somewhat dry, possessing a moderate level of acidity, of berries-like quality. Throughout a cocoa leaning cup of coffee, with hints of acidity and a smooth mouthfeel. Capsules are fully compostable and all the coffee Sendero sells is ethically sustainable and sourced from smallholder, specialty grade, farms.

Sendero Guatemala review
Origin: 100% Arabica from Guatemala Intensity: 3/5 Buy: Order Sendero Guatemala at Sendero , Order Sendero Guatemala at Amazon Light brown foam. Strong aroma, with an orange-like quality but still very much coffee’s. Acidic and bitter at first sip. Neither prevail over the other. When less warm, acidity becomes more prominent and a tenuous sweetness arises. A medium-light bodied cup. Low intensity. The bitterness, especially in the aroma, is alike a dark chocolate tablet. Orange and tangerine flavours are the most prominent in a coffee that overall doesn’t favour any, being extremely neutral and balanced. Capsules are fully compostable and all the coffee Sendero sells is ethically sustainable and sourced…

Ispirazione Roma review
Origin: Arabica coffee from Brazil and Mexico with a touch of Robusta Intensity: 8 Roasting: 3 Order: Buy Ispirazione Roma at Amazon Brown foam. Nicely roasted, pungent, sweet aroma. Malty and cereals-like. Slightly acidic at first but more noticeable is the medium, smooth and creamy, body. Cocoa notes merge with cereals and woodiness. Persistent crema. Acidity subsides at lower temperatures, partly replaced by bitterness of dry cereals and woody notes, but remains in the aftertaste. Red fruits acidity. A complex cup, mixing nearly equally acidity, bitterness and a medium roastiness.
